Dr. Califf is currently the Deputy Commissioner for Medical Products and Tobacco, Department of Health and Human Services. Previously, Dr. Califf has held many significant roles at Duke. In addition to vice chancellor of clinical and translational research, he was director of the Duke Translational Medicine Institute and professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiology at the Duke University School of Medicine. Califf previously served as the founding director of the Duke Clinical Research Institute, and is one of the top 10 most-cited medical authors with over 1,200 peer-reviewed publications.
